I just saw this notice in the Washington Post obituaries. Despite being in the same homeroom at Stuart, I did not know Bob very well, but I am truly saddened by his sudden and senseless passing. The link to his obituary follows. There will be a memorial service in Annandale on April 26, 2014. My condolences to his friends and family. http://www.pedersonfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Robert-Bob-Yourshaw/#!/Obituary

George Bruhl (1973)

This is a shock.  Bob and I went back to the 8th grade a Glasgow.  I moved off after '73 or so and would occasionally see Bob over the years.  I missed him at the 30th as I couldn't attend.

He could fix anything.  Went for a bicycle ride and if my 10speed was a bit out of tune, out came the boy scout knife and he adjusted the derailer or something.

Great guy!  He was tight with his brothers too and we all would take these great trips on bikes down the bike path to Alexandria and back, bike around Mall area and head back home.

I am truly sorry to hear of his passing.

Rest in Peace Bob!

Here's the clipping...

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI – A Kentwood woman has been charged in a fatal crash caused when her pickup slammed into the back of a Honda Accord, killing a Plainfield Township man.

Robert and Sheryl Yourshaw were traveling east on Belding Road NE in a 2003 Honda Accord when their vehicle came to a stop near Kitson Road in Cannon Township around 6 p.m. April 4.

Yourshaws' car was hit from behind by 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by 31-year-old Tara Sunshine Tappin, of Kentwood, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.

The impact of the collision sent the Yourshaws' vehicle into the path of a westbound Toyota Camry, according to police.

The Yourshaws were transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where 59-year-old Robert Yourshaw died April 6. His wife of 20 years received serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Tappin, who also goes by the name Tara Sunshine-Empire, was not injured. She has been charged with moving violation causing death and moving violation causing serious impairment of a body function. The charges carry maximum sentences of one year and 93 days in jail, respectively.

Tappin was set to appear in Kent County District Court on Tuesday, July 22, where the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office has offered her the chance to plead guilty to the moving violation causing death. The moving violation causing injury charge would be dismissed.

Tappin remains free on a $1,000 bond.
