Ms. Newman was my Spanish teacher.  I was far from her best student but she cared deeply about all students  she taught.  She was strict but fair.  I've always held her in high regard.  Vaya con Dios.

A small group of us kept in touch with Mrs. Newman for some years after graduating, until the late 1990's or maybe even 2000's. In the later years we even drove down to Fredericksburg to have lunch down there with her. She was an extraordinary woman and one of a handful of teachers I will never forget for her caring and her passion for language. Our get togethers with her were like stepping into the past with her lovely sense of humor and her all-knowing smile that lingered after stern looks for our breaches of ettiquete and misuse of her beloved native language. I am sorry to have lost touch and to learn she was easily within reach up until so recently. Siempre estara en mis recuerdos, Senora.

I really loved Mrs. Newman.  She was gracious and caring and passionate about teaching Spanish.  I loved that her mother made many of her beautiful shift dresses.  In fact, I loved her class so much, I went on to double major in college - Spanish/Broadcast Journslism.  I will never forget her, even though it has been 44 years since I attended Stuart.   Thank you for including her and my best to her family.

Sra. Newman was sweet, passionate, strong, and beloved by both students and fellow teachers.  I'm glad and lucky that I knew her as both.
