In Memory

Daphne Hope - Class Of 1965

Daphne Irene Herbst, age 78, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at her son's residence.

Daphne was born on June 7, 1947, in Dunn, North Carolina, to Lewis and Kathleen (Layman) Hope. She graduated in 1965 from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, Virginia. On May 30, 1968, she married Dustin "Dusty" Herbst, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2015. Over the years, Daphne worked as a bank clerk, retiring in 2005 from M&I Bank.

Daphne found true joy in the simple, meaningful moments spent with family. She loved being involved in her grandkids' lives and never missed a moment to support them. She enjoyed helping others learn, often tutoring and volunteering at schools. Always patient and encouraging, she helped others reach their potential. Her hobbies weren't just pastimes-they were expressions of her love, care, and unwavering dedication to those around her.

Daphne is survived by her son, Brock (Heather) Herbst; grandchildren, Ashton (Kegan) McLean and Abigayle Herbst; great-granddaughter, Presley; brother, Dwain Hope; niece and nephew, Raine Hollingsworth and Jameson (Janette) Hope. She is also survived by Jen Pickard, a close family friend who provided loving care and shared a close bond with Daphne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Kathleen Hope; her husband, Dusty Herbst; her son, Judd Herbst; and her mother- and father-in-law, Roy and Lorraine Herbst.

A funeral service to celebrate Daphne's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St., with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Family and friends may gather on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Daphne will be laid to rest at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at a later date.
